Inauguration! Congratulations, President Obama.

Due to the inauguration, we’ll seize blogging for a couple of days. We will resume with a new, interesting, controversial post on Wednesday the 21st.

The Obamas - America's First FamilyPlease bear with us. And while you are out there celebrating, stay safe and enjoy.

By the way, is it just me or is everyone else looking forward to the fashion spread? Afterall, a bunch of designers submitted suggestive sketches of designs they think will be better suited for the Obama family. I’m looking forward to seeing which lucky designer they went with.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Michelle. Hope she picked a fab dress (or several dresses).

  1. I know Michelle will pick an awesome outfit. I really loved the red and black outfit she wore the day Obama won the election. It was not safe but she also hit the nail on the head. I tell, you gotta me daring sometimes and NEVER allow the clothes to wear you.And that’s exactly what she did.

I can’t wait for the spread…they are such a gorgeous first family:)

  2. Yes, Adanma, the Narciso Rodriguez would have sucked on someone else, but it fit Michelle and her body type. Personally, I wouldn’t have chosen that dress for her, but like you said..it didn’t wear her.

I’m trusting that she will look stunning tomorrow. and especially looking forward to seeing their cute little girls. Obama will look dapper regardless.

  3. First outfit for Michelle Obama, Isabel Toledo. A Cuban American Designer. Michelle wears a sparkling gold sheath dress with matching coat. Not bad. Definitely fits the occasion.

  5. Yes, I want the green gloves…like now! Did you observe that are shoes were green? They matched the gloves :)

  6. loved the shoes as well, but the green gloves made a much sharper statement….I mean she wasn’t wearing like 3 inch stilettos. In that case, I would’ve definitely had more love for the shoes:)

  7. OK, while I love the Jason Wu gown that Michelle Obama has on, I don’t think it is the right color or silhouette for the occasion. It looks like my wedding gown. The dress in itself is beautiful, but I’m a little…

  9. I just took a look at the Jason Wu Michelle wore at the inaugural ball and its bold. Totally Michelle’s style. I would have to agree with on the color choice. Maybe a yellow or orange or even lime green or more gold choice would’ve looked better on that design. It does look like a wedding dress. But these two people are in love with each other . so we have to be mindful of that as well. This is the term of Flavor in the White House.

  10. Adanma, yes, the dress…I die. I have been reading up on “First Ladies & fashion” and it seems that it is a trend to wear white on inaugural day. Though, the two previous (before Michelle O) were super conservative and a bit boring.

She still looked like a star! Like the night was all about them. The fashionista in me was just wishing for a different color. Gotta love those two. After about 5mins, the dress didn’t even matter. She could have worn a bathing suit for all I cared (ok..may be not), but you get my drift. The love, the gazing, the PDA, the dance, the energy. Superb.

Like you said, I hope she brings the flavor. More daring in the fashion department. Man, better her than me in the White House..Lol.

  11. i think like the media says, she was trying to keep the tradition of white colored inaugural ball dresses worn by the past first ladies in the white house

  12. I wonder is any Nigerian designers (Deola et al), sent any of their designs to Michelle.
