I had to snag a couple of pictures before he left for school yesterday. He’s such a stylish kid, and we’re so proud to have a little man growing up with such a huge heart and fantastic energy.

Sidney truly is a rock-star. Ever since he got “Guitar Hero” for Christmas he’s been walking around the house with the guitar slung over his shoulder. He’s really playing the role of the rockstar to a “T”. One of his many goals is to play in a band someday. He wants to take after his grandpa, Sonny Okosuns (RIP), and I hope and pray that he will. I say rock on! You have the spirit, my son.

My beautiful boy, I hope you enjoy your day today. I’m sure that you’ll have a blast. You have a bunch of surprises coming, and I can’t wait to hear all about everything.

Today is Sidney day! If you see him, wish him a happy, happy birthday! 11 years-old and counting….!!! So hard to believe that my lil’ boy is already 11! What a joy!

Here are a few more photos for good measure:

Traveling with kids can be such an adventure, and Greg and I being the adventurous ones are determined to not let this get in our way of travels. We love to visit different countries and our families and friends within the US. Though, people say that once you have kids that’s out the door, we are re-inventing traveling for ourselves and making it something to look forward to. Going through the airport is like going hiking. It’s like climbing mountains. We have all these bags connected to us and are dragging the suitcases at the same time.

I pack the kids, and let Greg worry about him. Because Greg, packing and traveling is an adventure to watch and I will save that for a different blog. I love to pack light, but that’s a bit hard to do with kids, so I have studied the act of packing and now I actually look forward to it.

I make sure everything fits into a medium size suitcase. Sidney has one, and I share with Zurhi, though now I’ll be sharing with Zurhi and the baby on the way. I’m still limited to one suitcase. Here is the trick for the babies; I don’t pack diapers, food, wipes, toys, etc. We buy these things once we get to our destination and only buy enough for our duration of the trip. As long as we have a diaper bag, we can fit food, two toys, a couple of books, diapers and little baby essentials needed for the ride. Their clothes are so little that it doesn’t take that much space.

As for me, yes, I once was the girl that packed 50 pairs of shoes, 10 pairs of jeans, etc. because you know, we can never decide! Now, depending on the season, if it’s hot, I take 3 pairs of stylish and funky flat sandals (at the most 4), they are flat, so doesn’t take as much space as heels. When it’s cold, 2 pairs of boots. One brown, one black or grey.

The less you pack, the less your choices are so you make do with what you have. I take three pairs of jeans, and nice tops & tanks which are about Sidney’s size, so they fit perfect. If it’s cold, I take one leather jacket, and a pea-coat, so I have a choice. Trust me, I get to my destination and I still look funky and you could never tell that I brought a handful of clothes. You have to know what to pack and be very selective.

I put all my jewels in a ziploc bag and I’m good to go. Everything else is minute. Toothbrush, underwear…all fit right in, and that’s it. One suitcase, no stress. I have my purse with me, in which I just put things I need on the plane. Phone, ipod, charger, wallet, etc. In some cases, we don’t pack toiletries. Lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc., we purchase when we get to our destination. We buy the small or travel size bottles - again, enough for the trip.

I don’t take strollers. I only take car-seats. In addition, these days, you can rent car-seats and strollers when you get to your destination. Did you all know that? Besides, if you do decide to take that with, do check them in to avoid stress for you and your family. The only obstacle now is to train your kids on traveling. You know, not kicking the seat in front of them, keeping quiet and the like? Sidney is a little man, so we don’t worry much. As a matter of fact, he’s pretty independent when it comes to traveling and often likes to sit alone (away from us…lol).

As for Zurhi, we’ve been pretty lucky with her too. I guess she is used to traveling now. However, we are going to have two kids in diapers, under the age of 2.5yrs, so I’m sure traveling will be more of a challenge - but that challenge, we are eager for and ready to face.

What are your thoughts? How do you travel and if you have tips, do share. Have a fab weekend!

Bio: Kwavi Agbeyegbe is married with 2 young sons and lives in Atlanta. She was born in London to a Nigerian father and a Togolese mother and grew up in Nigeria. She has a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Thames Valley University in the UK and is currently working on her Master’s degree. Kwavi believes that all women should strive to take care of themselves both on the inside and out.

You get a few women (black, white, young, old) together and give them a few minutes….. and the main conversation will drift towards weight loss, diet plan etc. As an older mum (will be 41 in March) with 2 young boys and my health as a top priority I have found ways to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into my daily schedule.

It is so important that we do not forget ourselves when we are taking care of baby and maybe hubby ( I like to think that I have 3 men I take care of in my household 2 sons and my hubby ). We still need to look good. I use Arbonne facial products (I am not a consultant) and I have to say it works well for me. Actually it works extraordinarily well for me. I like to use natural products. I like to use a base primer that prevents oily patches (I have oily skin) then I add lipgloss, I just love lip gloss (Kiehl’s) with MAC’s lipliner, I am not a big fan of lipstick, eyeliner I have to use and I am good to go. For just a hint of drama I will add eyeshadow also by MAC.

I have made it easier on myself because time is one thing I do not have and most mums with young children will probably agree with me on this that once you have children gone are the long luxurious baths, lengthy makeup routines, sleeping in etc. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying forgo all these altogether – you are just probably going to narrow it down to perhaps once a month. Showers instead of baths, eye pencil and lip gloss, sleeping in let us just go ahead and give that one up. Maybe when the kids are teenagers we can relive that luxury

H20 does not discriminate it is a great thing for your skin, black, Caucasian or Asian. I can’t emphasize enough the miracles of water on the skin. Ladies increase your water intake and you will see the difference and if you don’t I can bet you others will. I used to go to the gym……don’t have that luxury on my schedule so I workout at home using a Pilates DVD it saves me time and a gym membership fee. I work out early in the morning between 5 and 6 am (I am a morning person …….Yikes! some of you might say) and it prepares me for the day. I always feel so energized when I work out in the morning. There is just an extra bounce in my step. Ladies working out helps you in other areas…hint! hint!

In my late teens I worked out a lot and I was very careful about what I ate. People thought I was crazy because they did not understand why I was working out as I was a size 2, however being slim does not mean you are healthy. Society has made us think that being slim is the goal, it is important to exercise no matter your size. It is also important to know your true size. For the` women out there that do not have kids yet and are planning to have kids, plugging yourself into a routine before you get pregnant prepares you for the MAJOR physical changes ahead. I know genes play a role too (Thanks mum) but I also know that you have to work hard as well.

Eating healthy is a must. It really makes a difference and most importantly we are showing a great example to our children. They won’t eat healthy if we don’t. I have been a semi-vegetarian (no chicken or beef) for the past 20 years. During pregnancy I ate beef to help out with my low iron count. I prepare chicken and beef for the men in my household but on a very limited scale. A healthy diet and exercise are what will help you lose weight if that is your goal. If you do one without the other you are fighting a losing battle.

Ladies I challenge you to make your health a priority in 2009. We deserve to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and look fabulous regardless of our age.

Kwavi Agbeyegbe

I know that I’m not the only guy who regularly reads Folake’s blog posts…though I apparently am the only one to chime in consistently. I know that there are a couple of other doods dropping comments, and some send personal notes to her inbox about how much they enjoy reading the blog, but I really want there to be a big increase. I want the guys who are our fans on Facebook to get over here and start participating in the dialogue.

it’s totally understandable though, because many of the post thus far have tended a little female. My wife does a good job of talking about general parenthood issues, but things obviously lean a little towards the ladies.

So, I want you to know that I will be posting up here on a regular basis as well. You and I both know that the women aren’t the only one with concerns about how our children are raised. I worry just the same, and spend the same (if not more) time up each night taking my turns with crying babes.

We clean the poop, diapers, barf, food messes, and accidents just the same. And maybe some of you are like me, and you’ve got a little daddy’s girl on your hands. Anyone?

We are not in the 1980’s, and we sure as hell aren’t in the 50’s, anymore. I sought out a powerful woman, independent and full of her own ideas about how things should be run. So, there’s no shame in raising your flag to identify with other guys out there who shop for their daughters’ (and sons’) clothing, pay attention to the different materials used to make bottles, and monitor toy-recall lists.

If our wives share the load working and earning bread, it follows suit that we lessen their burden with other things that are traditionally the woman’s domain, no?

I mean, don’t get it twisted, my wife still runs my house. When I leave dirty dishes around, I still get shit for it. But, I cook a majority of the meals in our family, do most of the school drop-offs, and do my fair share of changing the shit-diapers. I’m definitely an involved parent, as are most of the dads I know. This isn’t my daddy’s America.

So, guys, dudes, men…whatever monikers you want…please chime in and start to let your voices be heard on this blog. I really want WeWe to have just as much of a male identity. It’s not going to happen just by wishing it…I definitely need your help to make it happen.

So, start now and gimme a comment shout to let me know you’re listening…

Why? That should be illegal Seriously, i’m not saying it should be all about the kids (albeit, that’s what i’m saying) and parents shouldn’t look funky - all i’m saying is your kid(s) is/are an extension of you. If you can spend over $300 for a daily outfit, you can spend a fraction of that on your child, so they can look just as stylish and fab as you. You can put some time into their appearance/clothing; whether you are making the clothes, buying it at target or walmart, you owe it to your kids. They look great, they feel great!

Keeping it real and fantabulous

Hello Family -

Hope all is well with you and yours - WeWe truly cares about the other WeWe(s) and their care-givers! That being said, we’d like to share our new products with you. Have you seen all the new styles added? The dresses in all kinds of boho prints? The v-neck tees, the leggings, and oh my, the bili jeans….adorable!

Our style here is chic, boho, ethnic, funky & unique. We are not a fad - we are a culture. We don’t tag along with the trend, we set the bar. We allow our kids to wear something different from the everyday, boring kiddie clothing - same old pink for girls, and blue for boys. No! Here, boys wear all colors. Lime, lilac, orange…name it. Boys get variety, not just tshirts, jeans or shorts. They rock all the tunics in the different lengths, the unisex genis/yoga pants in all colors - also available in long shorts for certain ages. And of course, the vneck tees in all the cool, vibrant colors. Makes them look hot ‘n’ funky paired with the bili jean.

Alright, check back for the look-book. This will give you an idea on how to pair our pieces, how to pair colors and how to make your kids look fabulous!

Stay fab!

Hello there; sorry it has been so long. Wrapping up another production and getting ready for a photo-shoot on Sunday.

So, guess what? Our launch party is tonight - the purple lounge at the standard. So excited! I can’t wait to meet new faces, old faces and be around supporters in general. I am a little nervous too. I have to give a speech and I am not totally prepared to do so. Not prepared at all. I have decided that I will just wait to the hour and freestyle. Good idea, huh? Right!

Alright, looking forward to seeing you all. Please, please, please walk up and say hi. Introduce yourself. Let me know what you think…

Lot of love

Hello people - I’m here just sketching away again, combining my colors and fabrications and thinking….I want to style up one of those celebrity kids. Two things that are dear to my heart; kids and fashion. You combine the two and voila WeWe Clothing - There are a few kids i have in mind. I love Angelina Jolie’s kids. Love them. So cute. Zahara? She is the cutest. I want to style her up in nice, unique, ethnic clothes that i make. After all, we are both from Africa. I want to do her hair. Shiloh? Pretty little thing. I want to see her in one of the WeWe Tunics and jeans. Jolie will be so proud! - She is such a great asset to this world (but that’s a different blog).

Other kids I have in mind; Klum’s kids…the boys. They are half Nigerian (like me - well, I’m full). I think Seal and Heidi Klum will totally dig the tunics and pants i have for the boys. Nicole Richie’s duaghter, Harlow. I’m sure Nicole will love the clothes - we have similar taste in clothing Halle Berry’s daughter, Nahla. Oh well, one day….
